something cheap to get you in the water, boot foot waders will do that. If you expect to really use them (well, not Ken G. use them, but...) more than a couple trips a month I would go stocking foot with a boot 2 sizes bigger than your shoe size. I made the mistake of only going up one size and now I am limited on what socks I can wear to keep my feet warm.

What about preference on waders with built in boots vs. sock footed with wading boots over it?

Absolutely separate. I always burn out one before the other. I'm on boot pair number 2 with my current set of waders. Fried the first set of boots out in one season. Here's the story on that. I give Cabela's a hard time, but I'll buy them again.

I don't fish much during the winter anymore, but then I would get 5 mm neoprenes with built in boots. Traps the heat and keeps your feet warmer.

Also get some kind of long johns that wick away moisture. Don't wear cotton under the waders, it's like wearing a sweat sponge.

When you come off the water, turn the waders inside out and let the inside dry first. Then turn them back.

I have plenty of wicking clothes from hunting, so good to know. Hopefully with father's day coming up there will be some deals.

I fished 1 mile of the Dupage river last year.

My goal was 20.



I suck. With my 2nd job keeping me out of the house from 5am to 10pm every day I doubt I'll have time for any serious wading anywhere this year... poor me.
