All that rain last night barely bilpped the river. Went from 745 to 837 cfs overnight and now it's coming down already.
Luckily I went camping last week. Some of the worst of the storm was right over where we were.
The kids would have loved that.
Been debating for days over where to go this morning, still am as I sit here.
I think it will be Les Arends today. Haven't done that in awhile.
Maybe somewhere around Oswego on Sunday. Haven't done the down stream stretch in years.
Times a waisting. There's fishing to be done.
Been a long week
Re: Been a long week
Is it just me, or has fishing been really tough this summer? I haven't had an outstanding day catching fish all year really. Most of the good days this year, have been like bad days last year.
Re: Been a long week
Let me know how it was, i was thinking of hitting Les Arends tomorrow morning? Where you heading tomorrow morning? If i dont go to Les Arends maybe we can meet up.
You can never fish the same river twice, by the time you get back it's not the same river.

Re: Been a long week
Caught 2 and missed 12, so I don't know what to make of it. Fish were on the edge of faster deep water. But not where I usually get them. Moved down to Indian Trail Road and in a half hour caught 2 more and missed another 2.
So I suck at hook setting.
Sunday I'm giving up on the Fox. Tired of the struggle. Was out Thursday night and caught no smallies, not even a smallie tap. But did get a drum and had a catfish on. Plenty of them and carp around.
Going to break out the fly rod and hit Jay Woods Forest Preserve and Little Rock Creek. Will probably be there around 6 or 6:30 am. It will probably be a rock bass and creek chub fest, but I need a break from the river. That's probably a longer cruise than you want. It's north of Plano, so it's actually about the same as when we went to Somonauk. It's on Creek Road, of course. Look at a map of Plano and you should see it.
Ed, May and June were pretty good, but July has sucked. I guess I was hitting the creeks more those months anyway. Looked at some old stuff of mine and that seems to be the case from year to year. I'm sure I used to try to figure out what's with that, but now I still just go fishing.
