Tomorrow 8/2 AM

Post by MattC »

Going to hit the fox tomorrow morning or somewhere. Anyone else heading out and want to meet up? I was thinking Les Arends and if that sucks hit Mill creek. Any takers?
You can never fish the same river twice, by the time you get back it's not the same river.

Don't know what I was busy doing all weekend, but apparently not checking my site. Missed a PM from Sam and I would have joined you if I had seen this. Where I went sucked.

BUT, I went back and read a bunch of posts from 2001 and other years. Apparently July and August the fishing has pretty much always sucked on the river. Things pick up again in September.

Except for one thing. Creeks. Apparently I always did well in those months in creeks.

So Mr. Matt, hope you didn't waste too much time on the river.

Thants exactly what it was, a wast of time. I caught 1 smallie about 6 in.

At about 10am i had enough. Since i was right there i hit mill creek. Should have started there to begin with. Only fished it for an hour but caught a bunch of smallies. Mostly small but a couple decent ones mixed in. It seems that when fishing the creeks i really dont care about size. Its fun no matter what u catch or how big. I did catch a nice bonus fish that wasnt a smallie, anyone want to guess. Ill post a pic later tonight or tomorrow.

Hmmm, I'd say catfish, pike, walleye or muskie. All of which are in there now and then.

I think I may have caught 15 or more species out of there at some point. Considering you seem surprised, I'll go with one of the above.

I figured something like that.

Didn't think anyone was paying attention when I made my first Monster Quest comment on WCF. I thought it would be ignored like all the rest. Taking on a life of its own.

Now I just have to teach myself a little more about the river . . . ;)

Walleye sitting in the Brightest and hottest part of the creek. Surprised the hell out of me and smashed my jig, and it didnt fight like a wet sock.

It seemed bigger at the time but i guess its around 16".
