You can never fish the same river twice, by the time you get back it's not the same river.

Then we'd probably only fish together once.AndrewR wrote:It's not a bad thing though. I can't stand fishing with annoying people. They never get a return invite anyways.
I don't know why you guys keep saying he's quiet. A friend used to say . . . Are we talking or are we fishing.

I enjoy fishing by myself, but whats better then fishing with someone who also enjoys fishing by themself. Just the right amount of talking but mostly fishing

You know what's funny? Until now, I really didn't think about this, but I'd say at least half of the smallies I have caught, have been caught no more than 2 feet from me... Seriously. I have lost count of how many fish I've caught when I'm almost bringing the lure out of the water in front of me. If you think about it, for a fish travelling the river, we're nothing more than another break in the current... Makes sense, really.Ken G wrote:I think he's concentrating too hard.Darth wrote:Matt's a good wading partner. He's got that perfect balance between light fishing banter interspersed with significant moments of silence down like a true angler.
Not to mention he's one of only a handful of guys I've met that instinctively knows how to stand close enough to carry on a conversation and fish the same area without crossing lines.
That's probably one of my biggest pet peeves.
I must be lucky, everyone I've ever fished with on a regular basis fits your description.
One other thing they have to put up with from me though.
If they are standing still about 30 feet down stream from me with their back to me, they have to put up with me casting to within 6 inches of the backs of their legs. I don't do that too often, fish alone too much now, but I've caught two smallies doing that.
Learned it the only time I wet waded and that was on Mill Creek. The bugs stick to your legs, the minnows come to pick at them and your leg hairs, the smallies come in to eat the minnows. I was wondering what the hell kept hitting me in the back of the legs. So I watched this for awhile. Too cool.

Body fishing. I first became aware of it like you have. Then I read about it in something by Dan Gapen.Ed79 wrote:You know what's funny? Go to the Gapen website http://www.gapen.com/
Look for and order his catalog, it's free. In the catalog between all the products you'll find fishing tips. These tips will tell you just about everything you need to know about how to fish a river. Right down to little drawings of where the fish sit in relation to bridge pylons.
