Re: Labor Day Weekend
I'll tell you what. I have a feeling the dam area is going to attract others on this holiday. So, let's move to the north side of Hammel Woods on Black Road. Look at the map smallmouthfisher linked to. There's a parking lot not too far from the river.
Fished this area years ago and did all right. Never went north of Black Road, but friends have and have done well. We can spread out more in this area. And look at the map. No one around. No homes on the shore. Not much of anything.
I do remember weeds in the water. But that's the DuPage I guess.
From what I can make of the gauge, I don't check it often enough to know, it looks like the river is back to normal. I drive over it every day on 111th and it looked good on Friday.

Re: Labor Day Weekend
Andrew took us out on black road... we parked at the dog part and went north.. this was in the summer it was very low and clear none of us got anything.... but Andrew was taken there by some guy from the ISA...I am going to try to get out of work what time are you planning on hitting the river I know the dog park I think opens at 6am but not sure... we parked there and then walked on the north side of the fence... when we went under the bridge to head north... the middle of the river was the deepest on the left side of the middle pier.... so either go north on the right or the left and not the middle... they tend to hold there...

Re: Labor Day Weekend
I should be there around 6:30 give or take a few.
I went there years ago with the ISA, that's when they liked me, the guys with fly rods did much better. I had mine that day and did pretty well on spiders.
I like being away from crowds. That's why I avoid dams like the plague.

I agree, avoiding dams is a good thing. I hate running into other people all over the river. Sounds good Ken. See ya there
