Normal Water Levels — Finally

Like any other blog, random thoughts on random subjects. Might be interesting, or not. I probably won't be putting up much more here. I have other blogs. Only registered users can see this forum.

Normal Water Levels — Finally

Post by Ken G »

With no real rain in the forecast, it looks like river levels will finally come down to something resembling normal. On the Fox, this would be for the first time in months.

Checking the gauge today at Montgomery shows that its flowing just above 1500 cfs. That allows me to go darn near anywhere. By the weekend I don't see why it wouldn't be at 1200. Which lets me go anywhere I want. For the novice wader, dropping down to 900 would be best.

Of course, it doesn't look like I can get out fishing this weekend.

That figures.

Water level on the Fox was about 1400 today. Looked like the Kankakee was around 4500, which is a little swift but doable if you stay near the edges. (That river still freaks me out at times, so I would stay near the edges till it came down below 2000). Slim chance of getting out Monday morning. No work that day.

Been reading posts about how the current moon cycle is going to really turn things on.

The hatchery manager I know in Virginia used to laugh at that. Moon has nothing to do with it when it comes to the spawning cycle. It's all temperature driven.

Have fun Dan.
