Re: Less fishing more cowbell
A couple more tree pics and more fish talk - it would of been a Ken G post.

I like trees.
Actually, it was very well written.
Now the trick is to keep it up for over 12 years.
There are times I look at all the pictures, look at the blank word processing page and I got nuthin'.
Other times it's just stuck in my head.
Those are generally the good ones. This years goal is to hack those out no matter how late it is or how tired I am.

Half of that was stuck in my head, and the other half came to me after chatting with my wife about our weekend. Sunday's mass, Valentine's Day, developmental milestones for our 9 month old, and even homemade pork tacos all had a part in that last blog entry......

Ed, keep writing and story-telling.
You should recount your California tales. I'd love to know more about that stuff.
I won't be getting rid of the FHQ and its blogs unless I get a six-figure offer from someone to buy out my empire in the future. So keep writing, you never know what good may end up coming from it.

Which means you'll be doing FHQ for the rest of your life.AndrewR wrote:I won't be getting rid of the FHQ and its blogs unless I get a six-figure offer from someone to buy out my empire in the future. So keep writing, you never know what good may end up coming from it.
I might be able to help with the other part. Only you have to pick topics other than the Fox. I have that.
Bob Maciulis, Dale Bowman and maybe one or two others trust my judgement with people. Send things to them. Tell them I told you to because I thought it would be a good fit, and see what happens.
BUT, they look for consistency. If you don't think you can do this on a regular basis, then think twice.
I'm still working on more national publications. Problem is, I never think anything I write is good enough. I like Gray's.
ANDREW, you need to get in touch with Maciulis too. Unless there's a conflict of interest with the other things you have going on. Skip Midwest Outdoors. Strictly hook and tackle writing about their advertisers. No choice. How many times can you tell someone how to fish a Rapala. Most I know that wrote for them walked away for that reason.
Re: Less fishing more cowbell
I know, I know, I know.
Hyla has told me the same thing and Bob lives right down the street from him.
I just don't know what I'd end up writing about....
My Adventures in Wisconsin.... How to catch poo Walleyes and waterborne viruses on the Salt Creek and DesPlaines.... Pursuit of Chrome and Browns with the Trout Mafia....
I think this may actually work. I still got his contact info. I need to go on a really good adventure in the next month and we'll see what happens from there.
And, there is no conflict of interest. Hell, did I ever tell you that Don DZ wants me to join his monthly breakfast club with him and all the other outdoorsy people?

All I used to do is send him what I sent Dale. Bob would like the Des Plaines stuff. Anything else you send is a bonus.
Tell him I thought you would be a good fit.
Plus you have that Lithuanian thing going. You guys are worse than the mob.
