This will Jinx it

Post by Ken G »

9:04 AM and the Fox at this moment is flowing at 1090 cfs.

Which means it has FINALLY got to the point where waders can go anywhere they want without much worry.

This also means that today's 30 percent chance of rain will occur over the the Fox Chain and result in 25 inches of rain in less than 2 hours. Which will screw up the river for another month.

Any takers on this bet?

At 7:36 AM Wednesday the river is at 868 cfs.

The rain seems to have had no effect on the rivers downward plunge.
I know in Yorkville it was all show and not much substance.
Barely made the ground damp, but nice light show.

8:48 AM on Friday and Elgin and the surrounding area has been getting pounded by rain. Down in Yorkville it drizzled for a few minutes on Thursday.

This pushed the river level up to 1020 cfs at this moment, but it's already swinging down. At least it's finally draining fast after each bout of rain instead of staying up for weeks.

Could make for a good weekend.

Dan,
I have no idea yet.
Put in a long week of work, so not sure when and for how long I can get out.

I say in a few weeks we pull together some people to go do some exploring of new water.

I'll start pulling together the details. It will be a fair amount of walking to get to a fair amount of wading.

But, someone's got to do it.

3:58 PM Friday and the 2 inches of rain that Elgin got this morning showed up at the Montgomery measuring station about an hour or two ago,

The river gauge is going practically straight up and is now at 1140 cfs.

Hopefully this will be a short lived spike in the water. Still makes the river very wadeable, I just hope it stops. This up and down can sometimes really screw up the fishing. The fish don't know where they should be going.

Sounds Good, there are few that come to mind. Set a date and time and I'll be there:)
