I'm sure saftey is a concern, but I would also have to believe that the top secret studies going on there are very much top secret and they have to be wary of any spying activity. If we were still in the Cold War era, that would probably be one of the targets for the fact that it most likely employs some of best scientists and engineers in the world working on Gov. contracts that keep this country at the fore front of technology and advancement in weapons and all that other crap. Boy.... I need to go fish or something

To get into Fermilab, enter through the gate West of Rt. 59 down Batavia Rd. When you get to the gate, have your seatbelt on, show your drivers license, and tell the guard you are there to go fishing.

From there, head down Batavia rd till you get to N. Eola Rd. and take a right. Follow that down till you get to the ponds. Park in the gravel and head to the creek. It's little more than a ditch, but there are fish in there!

Ken is right, it is like fishing in a barrel, a clear plexi-glass one. It may be some of the cleanest water in the state. There are certainly those that fish it, and regularly too. As for bragging, well, in my eyes a big beautiful fish is a big beautiful fish no matter what "type" of water it came from, and regardless of who caught it.

Problem is if you didn't know them you wouldn't know where they were fishing. They then tell their readers that the ponds are on and hot. Okay, I don't think so. Years ago an angler kept reporting that top waters were hot on the Fox. This when the summer clarity was about 6 inches. He didn't bother mentioning that he was fishing the first quarter mile of a creek that was running crystal clear. Called him on it, that went over well. 6 years later and the repercussions still rear their ugly head to this day. I must have really pissed him off.

Reports are all in the details. Inaccurate details result in worthless reports.

Also, the areas Ken was referring to are off limits to non-employees for safety concerns, not for keeping private lakes for employee use only. I mean they are only running one of the most powerful particle accelerators in the world back there..... might be a bit dangerous to have Joe 6-pack wandering around.

That's Kress Creek. Between Fermi, the old Kerr Mcghee and radioactive trilium, I wouldn't touch it. The clean up of Kress is why I don't even particularly like fishing the DuPage. I may have to put up with the occasional treatment plant over flow on the Fox now and then, but at least as far as I know it's not radioactive.

That explains all the 3 eyed fish.
