Eagles without Joe Walsh
So I know there has been a lot of talk and news about the resurgence of Bald Eagles in the area but it is way too cool to be driving in the tri cities and have a Big Bird fly in front of you. Yesterday, I watched an eagle building a nest in Mooseheart twig by twig, way too cool to see him/ her swooping in to the white pine and flying out to repeat the process. Down in South Elgin just on the west side of the river their is a smaller male eagle who likes to sit in the first tree off the bridge and keep an eye on things. I know there is a mated pair down in Oswego , I would see when fishing, that have been down there for the last 5 years or so. this was my first time seeing and eagle in Illinois and now I am blest to see them on a regular basis... who would of thunk it
I am Kevin Summers and I have a Fishin Addiction....

Nice Kev. Mooseheart area is the perfect place to put one. Lots of open space for that area.
With the river freezing up, open water a half mile down from Yorkville dam. From my view point, at least once a week the eagle is seen drifting above the river at tree top level. The most I've seen drifting the river is 4. I think it was last year there were two of them drifting. One landed in the tree front of my house. Never saw squirrels run so fast.
The power lines down from the crap plant in Montgomery. Dead tree just to the north. The eagle has been using it for years as a lookout.
The picture doesn't do it justice. Took it a couple of years ago on Big Rock. It was pretty far away. A few weeks later, it and the branch it was in were gone. Snapped off from the weight of the nest.
January 31, 2010, Saw Wee Kee. My shots of this sucked. Point and shoot zoom, crap. Talked a guy into emailing me his shots. He had a decent telephoto lens. This is one of his. I still keep in touch with him.
