Ken posted too, but the Fox went up again overnight and it's still rising. I have a feeling if we stay dry till Friday the Fox may be wad-able...

The IL though.... gonna be fast and muddy. Always is this time of the year, just go slow and pick apart your spots.

The creeks should be normal by the weekend. Just checked a little while ago. high and muddy, but not too high. I've fished them under worse conditions.

Shit plant if you really need somewhere to go this week Mr. Ed. Hike in.

Otherwise, I'd hit the west side under the 34 bridge. You might beat Adam there, he's been quiet which means he's been busy. Though the stalker is probably already eye-balling that spot. Not sure what I'm going to do. Might take a break.

Just got back from my extended lunch break. Took a hike down to the mouth of the creek that dumps into the DPR here south of the lab.

The river is bad, but the creek looks good. Saw lots of minnows hanging under the riffles and small trickles of run-off. No big fish around willing to hit the grub, jig n' craw, or spinnerbait. I'm wet up to my knees from hiking through the swampness.

I will probably wait till Wednesday or Thursday to make the call for my after work trip... hell, might wait till Friday just to let it come down a bit more.

Let's hope Norm is right about the big flow kicking some of that algae off the bottom.

The creek will hold water and continue to hold fish like a rest stop!

I am waiting to let the water slow so I can wade a particularly tricky spot. It's not the high water that will get me it's the strength.

Hit a couple of spots this afternoon that I knew wouldn't produce and they didn't. Decided to not bother with wading high water shore lines and I quickly tired of being in urban spots. In other words, didn't even bother fishing them.

Did see hundreds of bass fry in the shoreline slack water. That was cool to see. Otherwise, just wandered around checking out creeks. All to high and muddy yet with nothing in them, for me anyway.

Probably won't bother going out again till next week.

Suffering from a severe bout of boredom with high water. Too much of a bother to go further north to all the classic spots I outlined for Dale. I used to pound the hell out of those areas years ago, waiting for high water. Now I can't wait for it to go away.

Yeah, I was surprised to see a few of those spots on your list. I find St. Chuck and Geneva dams to be unfishable in water this high. Geneva less so. But the other ideas sounded spot-on. Good stuff.

I haven't seen any bass fry yet, but I'll be on the lookout.

For my lunch time quick-hits I've got no other choice but to fish urban. Either that or nothing. Have to take my chances when I get 'em. Further afield tomorrow morning. May hit a slow spot I've had my eye on for a while. Don't see anyone fishing it, might as well be me. I did hit it briefly when the water was on it's way up with good success, but only fished a really short stretch. Lots of empty water out there.

All my old stomping grounds that I never get to anymore. At both of those locations, you have to start walking down stream. St. Charles, west side, the first couple of bridges. Used to be called Little Canada because of all the boulders around the bridge abutments. You can't beat walking the wall on the island park in Geneva.

Was thinking of hitting Les Arends today. Know my way around there quite well even in high water. But such a cruise.....

I'm spoiled, so much water down my way, but you always pretty much have to be in the water. There is virtually no shore lines to walk.

Great minds think alike. No, you really can't beat it. It sets up perfectly in this flow. I go down there once or twice a year when the time is right. Today was that day. Spend half an hour, hope no one's watching too closely and get a few right off the wall. It was packed today but everyone I saw was fishing the wrong water. This big girl was all spawned out.
