"To share, or not to share"

Like any other blog, random thoughts on random subjects. Might be interesting, or not. I probably won't be putting up much more here. I have other blogs. Only registered users can see this forum.

Had a moment to venture into some of the members only posts. Wow, I think this group is suffering from serious withdrawal (among other things). :? Hopefully we can all get back to fishing soon and the smallies will cooperate. Personally, I have picked up enough info from Ken, tips on this site and time on the water to feel confident enough that should the occasion arise that I actually run into another fisherman (rare) I can find another spot to fish. If I get lonely, I can always go and fish the BEST SPOT on the river - the 500' section between the Yorkville dam and RT. 47. To me, this is a brotherhood of catch and release smallie junkies (excluding Ken of course - based on recent transgressions) that, with limited time, can only benifit from shared info on time, temp, tactics, flow, etc. We share a great waterway that is never too crowded or complicated. Hope to see more of you on the water.

John S Montgomery wrote:Ken, that sounds great. Since we are giving requests to you on fish porn can you some how get a large mouth to dirty talk? Nothing against small mouths but ya know that whole large mouth thing is more appealing. If you can't work that out , I'm just gonna go to Freemans sports and buy two dozen leaches and put them down my pants and drive around with a smile on my face!!!
That's just wrong, funny as hell and the leech part needs to be on video, but still just wrong. :D :D

Bogie, the whole site is now members only. No more guests.

I have a bunch of new creek spots that if I can't get to with you, I'll get you directions.

Things slowed down at work too. Now I just sit there thinking of annoying things to say here on the site.
I need to do more map work. Something constructive. Quit goofing off.

I'll try to pay more attention. I would love to explore more of the creeks, definately more intimate - maybe try the fly rod again. I here the perch are picking up on Lake Michigan - hoping to get out there soon as well - any interest?

Perch = yum

I'm interested in anything that tastes good. I'm a fat guy, that's what we do.

I was thinking of trying to get my boat out on the lake this weekend, still waiting till Friday to make the call on the winds.

If you fish Indiana I have a few little birdies that talk into my ear. Just let me know if you would like any info passed down.

I've given up on heading down to the lakefront. I commute so much every day that by the weekend I'm done with driving east.
Thank you for the offer.
I fished around Northerly Island, former Miegs, a few times before I quit working for the park district. Fished that harbor a lot near the planetarium. Never did get to fish all the way around the island. Since we were PD employees we got to go to spots then that no one else could, but didn't do it enough times.
I got to fish all the harbors back then. That was one of the best. The other perch spot I liked to go to was the pier off 63rd street. Most guys won't go that far south so it's just neighborhood anglers at that point. At least it used to be. Jackson Harbor was another one of my favorites. You can move around alot.

Always looking for more info. I tend to go out of Pastrick this time of year and fish in 40' - 50' beyond Gary Light. Used small jigging spoons/minnows last fall for big fish (up to 15"). Haven't been out yet this year.

Illinois is too high right now but give it a week.
We hit the sauger run last week, but they will be pulling back soon.

By the 18-24th the whitebass should be driving up and planting a flag by Starved Rock!

That is fun fishing.

take that boat west!

when the birdies call, please pass me the Indiana LM info!
My boat is ready for there also!

Rob,

I've hit the whites a few times at peak before, what a hoot. I plan on getting my son out there with me and my father. He's never fished from the boat. He will have fun.

The Smallmouth are starting to wake up and come ashore up and down the Chicagoland lakefront. I have shore fished this transition period before with mixed results. Fishing the bottom with goby imitators could get you browns or bass. Trolling flashy body baits could get you coho, browns, steelhead, or perch (depending on where/how deep you are trolling).

Plus my Dad and brother have not been out on the boat with me ye this year. I like taking care of my family, they take good care of me.

Expect to see me Friday. I'll try to stop by before lunch.
