Word of advice/mini rant

I'm an idiot who rarely takes the advice of others unless I agree with their thoughts so I suppose I deserve what I get......but ok, here goes the advice......dont ever ever ever ever consider being active on a home owners association board. I've been president of one for going on 6 years now. I thought I had a pretty good handle on people (professionally speaking, I've seen a lot of poor behaviour by both candidates and clients while working as a headhunter) and seen most of what the human being is capable of but noooooo, I was wrong-o! If you want an unpaid, thankless job that consumes your time and you end up as the "bad guy" in your neighbors eyes for simply enforcing the rules, by laws and covenants of the association, by all means go ahead. But dont say I didnt warn you.

You have to remember that the IQ of the average human being is 98. That's borderline dolt.

Then factor in greed, ignorance and stupidity and you have a nightmarish human stew that constantly bubbles over the top of the pot.

And you have to clean up the mess.

It's one of the reasons I've backed away from a lot of the things I used to be involved with. No longer worth the effort on a group scale, so I do things on my own. Much more relaxing and satisfying that way.

Well, the good news is the offending party has asked for terms of surrender. So it appears that the Association and the Rule of Law has prevailed. Huzzah!

Tried it once myself...walked out after I found that the neighbor across the street cared more about appearances than children. Never spoke to her again...life was much better after that. Fewer humans...more fish is the way to happiness.

That's been my mantra lately John. Did that last night on the Fox. Over a mile to myself. More fish would have been nice, but I'll settle for 4 landed and 5 self released. Then there was that 2 foot flathead cat....
