Recent Friday during lent.
I cooked up some walleye from a past trip to N. Michigan.
I used Shore Lunch, but not the right way.
I was in a hurry for I just tossed the fillets in the mix.
The into a pan of "pam" and butter.
But to the mix I aded a lot of "Cajun Spice" from High Mountain Seasonings.
No milk beer or anything else.
i was cutting corners and in a hurry.
That mix was damn good, especially the spices.
Maybe it was caught fish cooked months later, but it does get me back to the "hunter-gatherer" status.
Can't wait for some crappies & whitebass in a few weeks.

That's actually my favorite way of cooking up fish. You don't feel as bad about the oil clogging up your heart. Just had some store bought cod cooked up like that over the weekend, only my wife makes up the mix from scratch.
She's been around wild game and fish all her life, which is why she doesn't eat wild game and doesn't care for fish much anymore.
But she can sure cook it up.
Going to do the great smallie taste test this year, finally. Been talking about it for a few years. This year I'm determined to get it done.

I hope to do a species test this week in the Ozarks: crappie, whitebass and walleye.
Would be nice to catch enough fto bring home for a weekly meal.
Like a primitive hunter gatherer, I'd probably cook all of it and eat it every day...
Later!

lots of flooding, had one good day of fishing.
lake will be spilling over this weekend.
Instead of flow like 8 generators it will be +20.
No keepers for a taste test, but we'll be back down in a few weeks.
Instead I hope to try with walleye from the Wi Fox chain in a few weeks.
As far as Arkansas species, May it will be.

Was watching the weather, figured you wound up in the Gulf or something.
Didn't miss much up here, couple of good days, lots of water.
The white bass should be in Somonauk Creek by now. They weren't there the last weekend of March. May have to bring a stringer if I go. All depends on whether it's rain or snow this weekend.
I hear they ain't bad eating.

OK, maybe this weekend will be it!
Plan was to jig for walleye on the Wolf River near Winneconne.
Seems the weather has turned.
For the better??!
(When does that happen?)
Water heated up and now the whitebass are running.
Hope to get a mixed bag for some weekly meals.
