In case you didn't notice, the car I'm now driving is a piece of shit, but runs well.

It also doesn't handle a 6' - 8" one piece rod very well.

So, what would it cost?

Similar rod that Matt built for me, but in a two piece. I haven't used a two piece in over a decade. You think I'd notice the difference performance wise?

For what it's worth, Ken, I picked up an '87 Ford F250 for about a grand specifically because I only fish 1-piece rods.

I assume getting yours chopped and adding a ferrule would cost less than that. Still, I enjoy my gas guzzling beater... and my 1 piece rods.

For what it's worth, I built a PVC rod holder that I used to strap to the top of my car for my transporting rods. I don't use it anymore. You're welcome to it. You will have to rig some straps, etc. I think it will take up to a 7' rod.

I have a similar tube setup Sam, but thanks for the offer.

I had to take my parents car away from them before they killed someone or themselves. My little SUV had a 185K in miles on it. I now have a 20 year old Olds Cutlas with 54K in miles on it. It also gets much better mileage. I hate the thing, but it works.

I don't want to cut down the rod I have. I'll still be using it, but the Olds is not conducive to having that rod in the car all the time. I carry everything with me all the time starting about now. You never know when you'll be crossing some water and have to stop.

Have already been timing my home commute. I can hit the East, West and main branches of the Dupe in less than an hour. A few more minutes and I'm on the Fox easily by 6 PM. Plenty of time and my favorite time of day.

I have a cheaper 2 piece I'm going to throw in the car. Too whippy and light, but it will work in a pinch.

2 piece river rod, fast action, cork grip, short rear, ergo seat, old man eyes guides, and some grungy color scheme?

Could probably do it as a demo build on consignment for $50. If you don't like it bring it back and I'll build you another. If you like it and want to keep it we'll talk about a final price. Parts will cost me $50.

Also, if you break it, the parts are warrantied but the repair labor is not.
