Anyone ever fish Poplar Creek? Seems like a nice creek, but I haven't had much time to investigate recently.

Awww, Good old Poplar Creek!! Nope never fished it! lol... I case you don't have this site bookmarked.. http://maps.live.com/ It is the best map site I have found. Use the Bird's Eye feature and look close at the areas you want to fish.. anyway, I'm sure Mr. G has some info for you:)

Thanks, buddy, found several very nice looking spots, but I'm still not sure if the creek overall holds that much fish  .

I think Dan is turning into the local expert on that creek.
Now if you ever want to know about creeks that feed into the Fox, just ask.

I've covered a few miles of those.

Problem with this time of year is that if there is no dam to block there way to a bigger body of water, alot of the fish leave the creek. There are always a few that will find something deep enough to winter over, but catching them can be a bitch.

Thanks for the info. Would 'crawlers work for the creeks?

I wade Hickory Creek alot, not Poplar.. I do hear there are fish in there tho! Grab some twister tails and a few mepps spinners and go find some holes.. Post a link to waht area u want to fish (just cause I'm curious) Worms?! I myself never been much of a live bait guy but I'm sure chubs and rockies would eat them up!

Well, here's the link Xpress- http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&c ... 62.6842358
I'm thinking of fishing it under the bridge of Golf Rd. and also at a couple of good looking, deeper spots both up and downstream.

OOPS sorry, my mistake.
Went exploring on Poplar once a long time ago. I never get above Geneva anymore.

Skip the crawlers this time of year. Minnows for sure.

My favorite rig is simple.

#4 or 6 octopus hook, small split shot about 12 to 18 inches above the hook.
Throw it in the hole and let it sit and crawl it very slow.
You're going to lose a lot of lead and hooks, so stock up.
