DuPage River confluence

In short, I'm looking for help. I live in Bolingbrook, just east of the "East and West" DuPage River confluence. Any info you've got about this area would be great. I was out for a bit under 2 hours today, walking the shoreline near the Naper/Plainfield bridge while the undergrowth is still short enough to make this possible. After a few thousand feet of walking/casting/exploring all I got was a sunburn on my sunburn(from being out on the Kankakee yesterday). I scared a few bruiser carp out from their spots, but didnt see much evidence of anything else. To my novice eyes it looked kinda shallow and barren.
Any suggestions about where/how to try in this area again?
Is there a diff stretch I should concentrate on?
Thanks,
~Jake~
