Got out with my buddy Jim to test his new waders for leaks ;) and maybe catch a few smallies while we were at it. Weather did as expected for once and the rain stopped by 4pm and by 5:30pm it was sunny and beautiful out. Fished from 4:30pm-7:45pm. We managed to go 4 for 5 with a couple nice ones. My buddy Jim got his first Duper smallmouth... a beautiful 3 incher about the size of the crank lol. All fish came on mann's baby 1- in brown craw color. Three of the fish came off one concrete wall/piling for a train bridge. There was some washdown wood hung up on the front of the concrete and it created some nice slack water up against the concrete wall running the entire length of it on one side. I pulled three out of this area and one on the backside of a car bridge behind a pillar. Water conditions were muddy/murky with about 10 inches of visibility and the current was up about 100CFS from our last outing, but still wadeable and we managed some fish. Here's a couple pics :) Enjoy!

It's funny, I haven't fished the Dupe much, but just based on your description I know exactly where you were. :D
One of the few places I've bothered fishing for smallies with topwaters.

I made the mistake of being out first thing in the morning on a creek. You would have liked what I went through to get to the spot. Makes Mill Creek look like a cake walk.

Rained the whole time, fishing sucked, but still enjoyed it.

I know this is an old post but i was browsing around and I know that spot well. Its one of my more frequented spots because its reliable and fairly close. If you head down stream from there there is a wing dam with a long deeper flat that usually holds some pretty nice fish.

Yup, we've fished that area quite a bit, wing dam included. My family is on the south side in Worth/Crestwood, so it's fairly close to us as well.

I drive past there every day. I keep thinking of stopping but don't. Looking forward to what you find.
