Sorry for the late report, had a bunch going on.

After work i headed straight for the Creek. I arrived about 3:15 and not having been there before just decided to scout it out alittle before fishing. I had gotten a couple tips from KenG but until actually being there you dont know what to expect. I started out walking the path down to the creek and i decided to head towards the mouth. The water there was dirty as expected and decided to make a couple casts to see if anything was lurking around. After about 5 minutes i landed a 10" smallies and decided i had enough and wanted to do some exploring up the creek.

I headed my way throught the brush and worked my way to the bridge and got in. What a beautiul little creek, kind of reminds me of the Apple river with the rock bluffs. The fishing turned out to be very good yet frustrating at times. The first half hour of fishing i had many hits with a brief fight and would spit the hook. They were hitting very light and just grabbing the end of the twister so i switched to an 1/8 oz. panther martin. Got a couple smaller fish with one gut hooked that took a while to get the hook out. Switched back to the twister and thats what stayed on the rest of the wade.

Started heading up stream and just started casting into any area where there could be a possibility of holding a fish. The fish were really stacked up in certain spots with multiple fish caught in the same area. Probably ended up with 30 plus fish ranging for 4in. to 17in. Mixed back with smallies, sunfish, creek chubs, and a surprise channel cat. Had a blast and will definetly be heading out there again.

I used to get a lot of criticism for enjoying catching all those dinks. Till that bonus fish came along.

Looks like you got 2 of those. Only once before have I caught a cat out of there and that was way up stream by an old steel framed caved in bridge. Not sure if you made it that far back.

Remember to give it a break for a few days then go back. But if you can get there during the week after work, so much the better. You can bet pretty much no one is going there during the week.

So far all this rain seems to have had no effect on the rivers. I'll be checking one more time late tonight, maybe once in the morning. The Kank may turn a little muddy, but so far it hasn't come up.

The wife is doing a double shift tomorrow, so after the Kank I'm going to take a break then hit Big or Little Rock for the sunset fish.

Beats rattling around the house by myself.

I caught both the large smallie and the cat just about the damn.

I have been off work for a while and took Kens advice and tried the creek early in June when the river was up.I have found that the creek is Loaded! with smallies.Anywhere that looks fishy there are fish there.I do go there about twice a week during the morning and except for the workers I have not seen anyone else in there.I would try fishing below any fast moving water now that seems to be where they're holding now.I had one stretch of 9 casts in a row where i caught smallies.anyway, Just thought I'd pass that around. Also the creek is so beautiful back there it is nice just to wander through the water and take in the beauty.

It's funny how the other creeks don't turn on with as many fish as come up into Mill Creek.

That stretch of the Fox through Batavia has the highest percentage of mature smallies. More than anywhere else on the river, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Plus the distance between the Batavia and North Aurora dams isn't that far, so where else they gonna go?

I love it back there in the fall.
