This is not a joke.

Had the day off and hit the river this morning.
Just a matter of time before things turned on.

107 fish landed. Most smallies, some crappie, an errant large mouth and a walleye.
Missed well over 100 more.

No details till next week. Got a busy three days ahead of me.

Like Jim said... that's definitely not considered fishing. That is most definitely catching :D Glad you had an extremely productive day to say the least Ken. You deserved it!

I'm not kidding, the miss rate on this one was well over 100. Couldn't believe it myself. I guess I'm lucky work was slow and I got the day off.

Geneva tends to turn on like that this time of year. A real mixed bag of fish too, but mainly smallies. Of course like usual I'm living up to my Indian name, Cantsetahook. Lots of dinks, but who cares. I know the big ones got away, again. But I know they are there and I hooked them. Works for me. Best big fish spot, west side, under and just past the rail road tracks.

I was surprised no white bass. Water must still be too warm.

Got a few minutes this morning to play around here.
Was looking at pictures from yesterday.
This one was too good to not post.

Sounds like a good time Ken.

And I know most around here are smallie fans, and not to say I'm not... I like targeting and catching eye's. Nice pic.

I haven't landed a smallie in IL this season, and looks like the window will be closed soon. I'm just to slow.

Okay, I lied to you guys. Sorry about that, but Matt wanted to get out there on Sunday and I promised him I would lie so he could have the place to himself.

So blame him.

Preliminary report from Matt is that he did half as good. Which I expected. :D :D

I wasn't on the river, I was in Mill Creek. I go there every fall for this kind of run and this year was something beyond my expectations. I actually missed well over 200 more fish. Yes, the majority of them were dinks, but who cares. You should have seen what I missed. I missed so many because I was using my 5 foot ultra light and 6 pound test TrileneĀ® XL. I never use Trilene anymore, just PowerPro, and I forgot about the stretch. Talk about screwing up hook setting ability. One cast would get me at least 3 missed hits. As the jig/twister came into sight, you could see schools of smallies following it and taking turns at viciously attacking it. Pools as shallow as a foot actually held fish.

Too cool for words.

I took 58 pictures, almost half of which are worth posting, but no time to deal with it right now.

I don't recall the other creeks I fish ever doing this, even at a minimum. Since I am still temporarily off work, I may have to go refresh my memory.

Again, sorry for the lie, but it's all Matt's fault. :P :P

Ken-

Is there room for a fly rod on Mill Creek? I fished the section at Randall Rd a few weeks ago and it was very tight. Are you fishing it near the joining with the Fox? I don't mind dinks...I changed my name from JOhn Trayser to GreatfulDad this week. Not working right now and need some new water...

Sad but true...I built a bonefish camp 7 years ago on the island of Andros...and the 2 older brothers in the deal lied about owning the land and have been in court for all this time waiting to get my hands on it. Great flat right out front and will be booked solid I've been told. The big problem is that the eldest brother has been trying to run it and his is Tri-polar...I mean really nuts. Can't even send an enemy there...
