WDJ Goes 98% Read Only

As of today, Waterdog Journal is primarily read only. I ran a forum around 8 years ago and got rid of it due to idiot participation. Some of the idiots are still around and they're still idiots. Funny how some things never change.
This time it's safe to say, there are no idiots on the site and that's not why I'm doing this. My interest in monitoring it all the time has waned and it sucks up what little free time I have.
When I got WDJ up and running almost 2 years ago, the goal was to have someplace to put my writing and pictures and if people wanted to come by and read it, that would be great.
Another goal that was part of the effort 8 years ago, was to become an information source primarily for fishing and possibly hunting the Fox River. This was to expand to other rivers in the area and many years ago I knew quite a bit about Salt Creek, the DuPages and was learning more on the Kankakee. I do seem to know a lot about creeks, even if I haven't got around to fishing them yet. I'm hoping WDJ will become a source for at least access info on local creeks and rivers. There isn't enough time in the world to become an expert in fishing all the flowing water around here.
Lastly, I wanted it to be a repository on river conservation and environmental info in general.
I will be leaving the blog section open for comments. I would like that to be an area where I can get feedback from readers. Dan was good in giving me info on water gauges he relies on. I need to get that up there. Others may want info up there for meetings or events they have going on. If anyone has other suggestions on the type of info they would like to see on this site, that would be the place to request it.
If all you want to do is use the blog as a place to have a bitch session about anything outdoors, or anything in general, that would be fine too. Just remember that the blog is open to everyone and everyone can read it. If you want more privacy for your bitch sessions or want to leave fishing posts only other registered users can see, if you're registered, you'll see where to leave them
Also, the info here can be linked to when ever you feel like it. I don't care where it winds up, but I prefer you link to it rather than copying and pasting the info. And don't forget to credit where it is coming from.
Since many of us seem to participate on fishing headquarters, windy city fishing and chitown, I'll see you all there and chime in to give you a hard time.
Thanks for participating while this was up and running and I hope you come back now and then to just browse around. A great bunch of people seemed to have gathered here and it was a pleasure having you all around and meeting some of you.
