Think both of these rivers will be productive come early to mid-April?

I'd like to schedule a rodeo for the FHQ crew at both, hopefully.

That is such a hit or miss time. If the conditions are perfect they could be excellent. The water is a little warmer because both those rivers are coming out of the south. If it's a cold spring it could be a waste of time. If there's a lot of rain, they're too dangerous. Especially the Vermilion. It's only one of two white water rivers in the state at higher water. The other is the stretch of the Fox River under the pool created by the Dayton Dam.

May through July would be the better bets. But I remember you saying you'll be up north. Too bad for you. :D :D

You'd be better off on the Kankakee that time of year as long as it's not flooded. Based on reports, I've always noticed that it runs 5 degrees warmer than the Fox that time of year and guys are already catching some pretty good smallies. The Kank comes out of Indiana, therefore warmer. The Fox comes out of Wisconsin, therefore colder.

OR, maybe the DuPage as it gets closer to the Illinois. Channahon maybe?

Kankakee in April is already a guaranteed trip!

Thanks.
