DuPage Sunday

Part of me wants to head down stream on the main stem of the DuPage because I know there will be fish there to be caught. But the other part of me wants to go explore where the 3 rivers come together while the under brush is gone. I've mentioned I drive past here twice a day. Be a nice place to stop during the warmer months on my way home from work. May as well scout it out now.
I see a fly fisherman parked on the side of the road at Boughton and Naperville/Plainfield, but if I can get closer, that would be better.
I used to know where in those subdivisions to park to get close. But I was never there and that was 12 years ago. Those memory cells are long gone. I no longer remember where to go. If anyone has spots to park for access, let me know. I'll be checking things out the next couple of days on the way home too.
I would imagine I'll be out there around 8 AM or so. I'll be up early with my wife since she'll be heading off to work and wanting to head out by then.

If I was going to fish the 100 yds upstream of the outflow, I would park at the end of Kings rd.
If I was going to fish downstream from it, I would park at the playground cul-de-sac just North of Boughton at the far West end of that subdivision. A short walk through low-lying prairie grasses will bring you to the stretch below the outflow.
I am dying to get back to the section between River Mist subdivision and Knoch Knolls. This was always a great smallie area for me as a kid. Some great rock piles and riffle areas here. I remember the rest of the Duper to be a bit muddier that that particular section.
Good luck out there Ken. Travis and I will be further north floating around on an iceberg looking for trout.

I thought Kings Road was the one I half remembered. I'll probably explore a little up of both branches, then head down.
Explore and fish.
I don't even know where the outflow is, but I will after Sunday. Wanted to check out where Springbrook enters too.
Something to do I guess.
Beats sitting around looking in holes.
I would have become a proctologist if I enjoyed that.

This is a good area, there is discharge from whalon that shoots out onto the river. (like a waterfall) Since you are in the area it is worth checking out.
Right between the trout pond and whalon..

I think I saw that on the aerials. Probably check that one out on Saturday if we make it that far.

Ken ,another access parking area would be on Timber Ridge.Looking at your first map you can see it directly above the hairpin turn in the river. The one side of the street is not built up yet and that's where I would spot one car if you where doing a two car.I have parked here before with no problems and just walk south to the river.

Bill, that's the spot I was going to check out on my way home from work today. Kings Road will work, checked that this morning.
I'm so used to growing up in Chicago. You didn't think of where to park on a street, you parked. Out in the burbs you feel like you have to ask even thought it is a public street.
I'll never get used to that. It's a street. Park on it.
Thank you sir.

I cant wait for Sunday... I think I am off of work tomorrow ad might head out around 9am...
But I was out today from 10-130ish. River was down from when I was out the last time. River was stained in the holes and deeper water. I would say you couldn't see 15inches down. But being it was warmer I deiced to get in the water and start with my spinning gear. I was just letting my twister float in my slack water down stream in some nice fast water. Jig was about a foot under and Bam.. a Dink. then another and then I had the fish on and it was nice but lost it. I am planning on catching this one soon. From the Tail I saw I would say 18incher. The dinks hit the Jig hard. But last week and today the bigger ones felt just like snags.
Then I got my 3wt out and tried it. I was floating wooly worms over pools and picked up 2 dinks. I hate my fly line. I miss my sharkskin. I will be purchasing it in the next few days.
Well hope to see you all on Sunday. I will be on the river tomorrow in the AM some time.
