Over the years I've tested all the creeks to see when fish move in. This one is a late starter. Better off being there in May, maybe second half of April if it's warm.

Hey Ken , isn't that the creek that runs through the golf course and behind the old library? I could be wrong but I thought I remember reading that the state is dumping some money into that creek. I think the DNR is going to remove a couple of old dams made years ago and basically bring certain spots back that have been screwed up or altered by us humans. You might have already heard about it. I think I read it in the Beacon News. I'm pretty sure the state is funding it.

They did a lot of work to it years ago when the biggest dam blew out on its own. This creek historically used to get one of the biggest runs of river red horse (sucker) on the whole river. Makes sense. A lot of those types of fish like to spawn in creeks and I can only think of this one and one real small one between Montgomery and Yorkville.
Haven't heard anything in years about removing all those little knee high dams further up. I'm kind of out of the loop on all those things. Would be good news if it happens, finally.
If you know of anything on line, link to it. Would love to read it. (You know when I have time I'll be doing Google searches now. Don't do that to me.)
