Algae and smallies on a monday morning

What could ruin a beautiful day like today, light breeze, cool temps ,clear water? Algae, lots of floating algae. It sure limits the baits that I can use.But I made the best of it and came away with some fine smallies,no pigs unless you count the ones I lost half back to my hand. The first pig I failed to land nailed a chugbug, went airborne and said good-bye.Moved upstream to the bridge and caught four nice ones 14-16 inches, all on plastics.Moved upstream to another hole patiently worked over two big smallies for fifteen minutes before one finally picked it up.I had this one on for ten seconds before he came out of the water and sent my bait back to me.That was a big ol" girl.Anyway, nice day to be out.The pictures don't do justice to these fine smallies.

Great lookin fish! I have been running into the same problem with the algea I swear some days I think I spend more time cleaning off my line than I do fishing! Even so nothing beats being out on the water when its as nice as it has been!

I'm hoping for rain because my yard needs it. I just wish it wouldn't do that on the weekends. Or just before and screw up the water levels. Can't wait till it starts staying light out till after 8 pm. Can always use those few extra minutes.
