Actually made it out today which was completely unexpected but welcomed. Hit the area where the east and west meet. When I first pulled up the homeowner there was out so of course I did the right thing and make sure it was ok to cut through to the river. She was very nice and said people are there all the time and they get alot of canoes through there. Get down to the water and I thought for sure I would be protected from the south wind but no such luck at all! Headed just a few hundred yards up past the mouth of the east branch on the west branch and decided to try to find an area with some protection. Today was one of those frustrating days that happen; i broke off 2 or 3 times on a hookset???? I didnt think the drag was set too tight so maybe a poor knot?? (im using 6lb fireline crystal). Got snagged up a few times and broke off prob another 3 jigs too missed one or two other bites one on a dinger rigged on a jighead and the other was a small buzzbait. All in all only ended up with two small dink smallies in the calmer first 100 yards of the east branch mouth . . Both were on a watermelon dinger one prob only 10 in and the her about as big as my finger!! Both fish were in eddies tight to laydowns close to a tight faster chute of water. I have some pics of the area maybe I will add but too tired now. I will be back out tomorrow after work; thinking of trying knock knolls area. Dont really prefer fishing this far north but its close to my office in woodridge. Maybe Im bias but it seems to me the further south the better the fishing.....

If you were at Kings Road, that's public land from her house to the other one.
We met her when we did our tour of the area.

Not much wading to be done in that first 100 yards of East Branch. I'll bet you were getting hung up on all the downed trees.

Nice to know a few fish are in there.

Last time I went I did park at kings rd which has a pretty large greenway headed to the river this time I made a right where king rd ends and parked by the houses right behind where the branches meet there is a small greenway but I still think its public property just wasn't sure. Think I might try that area again after work or maybe knockknolls depends on the winds......
