Mazon River May 4 More Fish Porn

I Fished the Mazon River with my Dad and brother this morning from 5:30am – Noon. The river was at 304 CFS with visibility at about 3 feet, a little dingier than last week. The water has also warmed up significantly over the past week, and we spotted what looked to be some smallmouth fry in some slack water, so at least some of the fish are spawned out already. We fished the spillway for an hour in the morning and came up empty. Then moved up river to another stretch we know and fished from 6:30am – Noon. We got some much better results up here. We managed about 20 smallies between the three of us, with about half a dozen or more rock bass as well. There were a few nice ones. My first fish of the morning came on a black/silver pin’s minnow and taped out at 17 inches. My brother got one a short while later that taped at 16, but was a football. It was a great day to be out, the weather was beautiful, and we caught lots of fish, including some nicer ones.
