Good week to be on the river, water levels are coming down and the clarity is steadily improving.Checked out Rock Creek to see how the spawners are doing. Not as many nests as in past years but plenty of fishermen.I have tried to stay away from here during the spawn,it's just too easy.I think I hit it once last year when I needed a "quick fix".
Fished the main river Sunday,Tuesday,Thursday and Friday with mixed results but all days produced fish.Thursday being the optimum day with 18 smallies in three hours.A northern pike and a few rock bass along with a nice 21 inch walleye that came home for dinner.
No hawgs this week, just a lot of fish 12-16 inches. Most caught on plastics with a few on topwaters.
Tuesday was a great day for nature watching ,I wished I had taken a few more pictures.Osprey cruising overhead, deer in the water, father goose fighting to defend his family.
