If you read through my endless reams of stuff, somewhere you'll find where I said that if you aren't doing what you need to do for yourself (it echoes what you've written) than you are totally worthless to the people around you. If a few hours to yourself helps you relax, then by default you'll be a better father and husband.
My dad had golf, I have fishing. Seems to work.

I thought I had heard that somewhere. Perhaps it was in your writings.
To be honest though, I think golfers are out of their minds. That has to be the most frustrating game ever invented.
With the creeks and rivers blown out what are your plans for the weekend Ken? If I had more time I would venture to that area below the dam on that private lake you investigated recently. I also bet there are a few outflows in the Bolingbrook area that flow into calm enough waters to be fishable. Thoughts?

I'm not doing much of anything this weekend. Picking up my daughter for the last time from U of I on Friday. Eventually get her home on Saturday and my lovely wife doesn't have to work all weekend. If we could sit still for two hours we'd go see Iron Man.
What I've been told, those ponds along 53 near Royce Road get some pretty good fish activity when the water is up and the water is feeding in and out of them.
I'm just not much of a lake fisherman to know what to do and where to go around here. I probably know more than I realize, I just don't do it. Erik may be going to Big Rock on Friday with his kayak. We used to catch creek chubs out of Big Rock Creek and bring them to the lake. All the way around the lake, 25 feet down is a ledge that sticks out about 5 feet. Most of the fish relate to that. Hunk of lead, big hook, creek chub, lawn chair, hang out.
I'm thinking bar b q and a nap in the yard on Sunday.
Mazonia, you have a small enough boat, don't you? I think the last time I did it was 10 years ago. Had a little 10 foot jon boat and a trolling motor back then.

My Weekend is up in the air. I have a couple of music projects that I am trying to get off the ground. My CD Dreamer is finished and I an trying to figure out a way of marketing it too sell a song, or two at the very least sell some copies to get some money back and record my second Full= length CD... I"M still Broke. I'm going to the Guitar show in St. Charles in hopes of selling or trading my 1975 Rickenbacker 4001 Bass for a GOOD acoustic Guitar . I have been struggling a bit with the grind at work( You can only hear your Lucky to have a JOB !!!) so many times. I will be 55 on The 19th and I KNOW I am lucky to have a job, but I believe they are pretty lucky to have me as well.... I bring passion and knowledge to the job on a daily basis, but we All know that sometimes doesn't get weighed in the scales of Justice. Blah Blah Blah...Sorry for the Rant. I do plan on treading VERY CAREFULLY thru some eddies and fishing the mudline between clear water and dirty water Saturday afternoon. The largemouth bass I was seeing on the beds in the local ponds are gone and I am seeing pods of carp milling around. When the water drops just a bit and clears I do expect the fish to be STACKED on shoreline Rocks and points. Have agreat weekend and travel safe Ken, The rest of you all ... Peace and Good Fishin Kevin

Let me know if you need a design done for the cover and liner notes. Years ago did this.
http://www.waterdogmusic.com/cart/index ... ucts_id=18
Couldn't find the one that showed all the pages.
Also did a couple of the ones for his kids CD's.
How do you want to go about marketing it. There's a few different ways to do it. The internet is good for some things.
I have a long story in my head about being 54 and job searches and how to read job ads. Someone finally talked in detail to me about it. In outline . . . When they are asking for 5 years experience, 27 years experience isn't better and you stand a better chance. They're telling you they want someone 30 or under. It's assumed you can't take orders from people younger than you, even though you assume it's a team effort and everyone has their role. It's assumed you want too much money when all you want is a decent living wage that pays the bills. Lastly, you're the wrong gender and don't have a nice ass, even though you may think your ass looks perfectly fine.
Explains why I never get responses when I don't get the opportunity to talk to someone. And no one let's you call. "No phone calls about this position please."
SO, all you guys younger than us, take a cue from what my dad told me when I was 18 . . . Don't ever think you're going to work for someone for the rest of your life, because as soon as they have the chance, they'll get rid of you.
My dad was a life long roofer and probably still the smartest person I know. Another dadism . . . Whoever said that your home value had to increase 10 percent every year, it's value is living a good life in your home. People are going to find this out when the real estate market goes in the toilet.
He said that 15 years ago.

Amen, You are now preaching to the choir!!! I still have a nice ass at 55 its the belly fat that will probably kill me!! Went down to the river Saturday and Sunday and as nuts as I can still be, I left the waders in the car. I did resort to my inner child and started snagging carp that were spawning near shore and had decided to leave the confines of the river to spawn in a temporary pond that will not be there when the waters recede. Hooked into a huge glass (mirror carp) in the tail and It was fun letting her run me around a bit. Caught 6 total I bet for a total of 25 lbs of fish.... Took mercy on them all and released them back to the river. The rest of the brood will probably die in the makeshift pond and become raccoon food. As far as my Cd Ken, Thanks for the advice and offer, I ended up using a Live Shot from Hillside Fest for the Front Cover and my wife took a nice shot of me on the swing in the backyard. Good liner notes just like the 70's and ten original songs... I hope to get somewhat serious this summers and get the band back together, Not quite a mission from God... but I do miss playing and the few extra dollars. After all I can't be the Fishin Musician if I ain't Musicianing... I threw that in for ALL of you That miss George Bush!!

First of all Special Ed, You asked for thoughts? At least that's how I read it . As you can see my mind was reeling so I left some out.Secondly, I do believe you are the Master Hi-Jack er Of threads on this site but I rather enjoy it. In all seriousness , I read your blog and I can see where your coming from.... Don't feel bad about those quiet moments away from the Home, they make us better men when we return... Just my two cents , Kevin
