Just heard from a friend about the removal of Hoffman Dam, Fairbanks Dam (one below hoffman) and Armitage Dam (located just north of north avenue and east of 1st ave in river grove) and I did some searching to verify this story. Here is the article I found about the removal of these dams.

What do you all think about this? How will this effect water levels and the fishing?

John Mach is a name I haven't heard in a long time. I got involved with the start up of Salt Creek Watershed Network 14 years ago. Met John then. He spearheaded dam removals on the Des Plaines where I got interested in them and I eventually turned my interests to the Fox. People didn't like to see us show up at dam removal meetings.
Nothing worse than fishermen with brains.
Like he said, we thought it was going to happen a long time ago. It's about time. No dam is a good dam and if this finally happens it will be a good thing for the river. Plus, I would imagine that the walleye runs up Salt Creek will improve dramatically.
If you hear anything else, post it please.
