Good day snowmobiling

I live on the far west end of Motgomery just East of rt. 47. My son and I did some good riding today going West on Jerhico rd. Made it out to Dekalb county before working our way back to the Brown Pub in Hinckley to get some food in us. On the way back we detoured off of Jerhico rd. onto a gravel rd. called Green Acre rd. we followed the local farm boys trackes. It was a blast. We were thinking of heading out to Shabbona but with the sun setting and the mercury hovering around 8 degrees we decided to get back to Jerhico rd. to continue our journey back home forgetting to stop at Bristol tap to eat some popcorn! What a beatiful way to soak in the crisp pristine winter landscape. Kens creeks along the way appeared to be well frozen. Yes Ken, I thought about you! It was a good day in the frozen outdoors!

I was out lost in the woods in Marseilles squirrel hunting on Saturday. My toes are still tingling. Wrong boots. Big mistake.

That's a cruise you took. Funny though, the creeks as they get toward the Fox are open. Didn't get the chance to go do some exploring like I wanted to. Decided I had done enough shivering on Saturday.

I was one of the first to go tracking through the snow at Marseilles. Lots of deer, squirrel, coyote and mice tracks to follow.

Went to a different stretch than usual north of the check in station. I used to see guys wandering far off into the woods to the east hunting deer. I counted almost a dozen beds and tracks were everywhere . . . just over the rise from the station, in less than 400 yards. Almost 20 beds in barely a 10 minute walk away. Pretty funny, to me anyway.

Well, Big rock creek was froze over at the bridge on Jerhico just before the main entrance. I saw the portion of the creek that is South of the bridge. There is sure not to many spots to see open water, other than parts of the Fox and as you know thats starting to freeze in many spots......we're off to a pretty damn cold start this year.

Yeah, no kidding. Average December temp is supposed to be 34. I don't think we got that high this month.
I'm going to go check Little Rock when I get the chance. There are a couple of deep holes I know that I hope aren't frozen over. That creek runs cold during the summer. I'm hoping a couple of spots stay open.

I love Jerico road. My brother in law lives in Hinckley and we take it every time we visit him.

My first ever wade was in Big Rock to the rivers mouth this time in 05'. Wader noobie, winter river conditions... I probably shouldn't even be here now ;)
