Is it time???

I heard from a client of mine that his son had a decent day on the river last week, so I thought I would give it a try before the rains came. Without any details on where he was, I decided to go to Orchard road on Thursday afternoon and fished fairly tight to shore with a jig/twister for about an hour and a half. With no co-operation from the fish and a nasty wind blowing, I gave up and headed to big rock creek, just up from the river. Much more enjoyable as the water clarity was good and, thankfully, no wind. I picked up six decent fish in 2 hours and finally felt that maybe good spring fishing will soon be here. As I write this its 36 degrees with the river near 3,000 cfs and rising....

You weren't one of those guys I saw sitting on the bank at the mouth of Big Rock?

Orchard has been dead for me too.

I've been hitting the creeks much further inland waiting for them to get there. Stop catching them and making them hook shy.

Looks like the urban areas have been doing better, but I've been reluctant to go fish those areas. When it warms a bit, I am going to go hit that east shore from the Marathon station down to the powerlines. I haven't done that in a long time.

Ken,

No, I was wading further upstream. The guys on the shore by the mouth of the river scare me.

Based on what I saw out there over the weekend, I could see why.
