took a ride, saw some open water. too much shore line ice to access the open water so that temptation was removed.

Got a smallmouth on Christmas day and New Years Day, nothing on the Eves. Symmetry there , groove and dig it.

River a tad over normal flow, off color, still a lot of ice on slack areas. Second day of a warming trend, nice not to have ice in the guides or chips flying off the line in your face. 37 miles one way , Bourbonnais to Homewood, about 45 minutes. 5 to 20 minutes to just about any place I want to fish on the Kankakee. used to be 10 minutes to work , about an hour to the river. i'll take the longer commute to work , besides I work 3 to 11, traffic isn't really an issue. more ...
