In light of recent events regarding the giving away of fishing spots through pictures that show backgrounds, I thought I would link everyone back to the Picture Posting Guidelines.
Let's make a concerted effort to abide by these rules.
Unless you're me. Or think like me. Then you can ignore them completely.

I tend to ignore it completely for the most part and I'll continue to do this. If someone can pick my spot out by a tree in the background or a rock on the shoreline then more power to em LOL.

That's the way I've always figured it.pezdek1 wrote:I tend to ignore it completely for the most part and I'll continue to do this. If someone can pick my spot out by a tree in the background or a rock on the shoreline then more power to em LOL.
But I can do it to them.

I always love the pictures. It really gets you out there even when you are stuck in the office. In addition, only being in IL for a little over a year, I don't know any places by the background either. Thus, my quest for a big smallie on a fly is a blind search.

Re: A Friendly Reminder
I've got lots of info for you. Just be patient. I've got some things going on that's keeping me away from even my own site.
Maps of the area. Learn the landmarks. Look up Little Rock Creek, Big Rock Creek, maybe Somanauk.
For the river. It really doesn't matter where you go. Think of tossing flies like you would lures on spinning gear.
Saw your requests for fly info on the other sites, but I don't post on them anymore. Just ask questions. I'll try to get here more often, but the next week may be tough.
Bug the other guys for their spots, they'll tell you.
Check out this, the big one I'm holding was taken on a fly.

What area are you from bud?
Re: A Friendly Reminder
I live in Palatine and have basically been fishing north of Batavia. Just really started fishing the river more this year. Last Sunday fished the Buffalo Park area near Carpentersville and then took a drive down to the Les Arends area as well. I've been exclusively throwing my epoxy "mullet" / "shad" imitation, concentrating on shoreline structure.
As far as learning about the Fox, exploring is part of the fun and adventure. I'm so new to the river, and certain sections, I didn't even know which way to go when I reached Les Arends last weekend. I tend to stay more towards the northern sections, simply because it's closer. I'm back in NJ this weekend but will be heading back out again the following weekend if i can keep the wife away from WI and the salmon run.

awww... Salmon run!
Re: A Friendly Reminder
Yeah my wife likes hooking up with the chinooks but I have mixed feelings about it. Fighting the fish IS fun but dealing with all the crowds and some jerks is just not what I enjoy. I'm sure we'll start making out trips back up to Wisconsin again real shortly but hopefully I'll squeeze in a few more trips to the Fox as well.
