Looks like the lovely wife will be working both days. Which means up before sunrise. She wakes everybody up.
The Fox will be at it's lowest level in almost 2 years. In the 13 I've been fishing it, I've never seen it go so long with higher then average water.
Which means it's time to do a couple of things I've been putting off.
Saturday sunrise at Saw wee kee canoe launch. Walk across the river and wander down for about a half mile or so. This is going to be a fly rod day. I used one on the Fox many years ago because fly guys were always whining about not catching many on the fly. I remember catching many and wondering what the problem was. I tied on a clouser, put a bead of lead in front of it, chucked and ducked it like a jig and twister and caught fish. I've read some whining again. Time to go try it again.
Sunday sunrise is exploring water I've wanted to explore for over 2 years. I won't explore if the water is up and it's been up. I like to explore, not die trying. This one is going to be along the Hoover Forest Preserve. A good aerial map will show you a strip of park land owned by Yorkville along the river directly east and attached to Hoover. The entrance to the park is next to the last house on the east side of the subdivision closest to the river. Checked it out a year ago. It might suck getting in and it will definitely suck getting back to the car walking the shore through Hoover. But may as well do it. Times running out this year and the opportunity will pass quickly.
Let's see if this works.
Hoover and the subdivision to the east
It's off Fox Street on the south side of the river and about a mile west of Route 47.
My other option was the river along a new forest perserve called Millbrook East. This would be a Hemingwade and I'm not up for it this weekend. The rest of my September weekends are booked up, so maybe October if it stays nice out and the river don't rise.
Millbrook East
Scroll around, you'll figure out where you are. Then there's Milbrook West, another mile long stretch of the river with a new Forest Preserve bordering it.
Then, back at Hoover, I know the mom of the guy that owns the farm that borders Hoover to the west. He has about a half mile of Fox shore line. She's going to get me permission to go through his land. As she says, he'll do what I say.
And you guys wonder why I never get bored with this river.

I'm no good for Saturday, got my girls while my wife is at work all day. As far as Sunday I think I'm going with Sam somewhere, although maybe he and I can just join you on the Fox. I'd like to get back on the Fox again soon. Haven't been there in like 3 or 4 weeks. I'll let ya know Ken. I'll talk to Sam and see what he wants to do.

Be ready for an adventure that day. I have it memorized based on aerial maps and my wandering along the river at Hoover, but have never stepped in the water here.
Hopefully the fish will cooperate.

Re: Weekend Plans for the 12th and 13th
Sam,
Sorry I missed this. For future reference, it's off of Orchard Road. I put where I'm going so guys can show or not. When I want the solitude, you'll read about it after the fact.
My back is telling me that Sunday's exploring would be a bad idea. I already know getting back to the car could be tough and today's little ventures on shore did not feel good. I want to keep it from getting worse. Don't want to screw up the Monster Quest.
So, Sunday I'm staying close to home. Will be walking over to the boat launch a block west of Route 47 at sunrise and fishing downstream from there. That way if my back is bugging me, I just walk back up the hill and I'm home.
Sucks having a bad back. Sucks even more getting old and having a bad back. Lack of sleep this week triggered it. I hate when that happens.

Im ready for the Monster Quest. As of now the extended forcast has no rain predicted. Even if i did rain we would probably need a whole lot for the river to be unwadable.
How did you do on the river today?
Not sure yet if im getting out tomorrow but if i do i will probably just shoot down 88 and pre fish les arends.

You can never fish the same river twice, by the time you get back it's not the same river.
