Wow, lots of fish in that creek right now. Dont know how much longer that will last but if you make a cast and dont get hit you should just quit fishing. I probably caught an estimated 40-50 smallies with just as many hits. Most of the fish caught were in the 8 inch range but with ultra light tackle it was a blast.
I mainly used a jig and white twister but when i came to the deeper pools i would switch out to a craw. Biggest fish of the day came right at the face of the dam. Fiesty little bugger almost jumped up the dam. If you have never fished Mill before give it a shot before they turn off. And did i say it is extremely beautiful back there, and will be even more when the leaves begin to change wich should be soon.
And dont blame me, blame Ken. I wasnt the one who lied

You can never fish the same river twice, by the time you get back it's not the same river.

Well, what you going to do.MattC wrote:And dont blame me, blame Ken. I wasnt the one who lied
Talked to Bob Rung of the IDNR over the weekend about this and the conversation went something like this:
"Well you know that's Mooseheart property and being up there is trespassing and . . . " Not when you know the security guards and have cleaned up the creek mouth for them.
Funny thing is, even they knew that as long as you stay within the yearly high water mark there was nothing they can do about it. But they appreciated the cleanup. Haven't done it in a few years. If anyone gets motivated, bring some garbage bags, clean up the south side of the creek at the mouth, and when full put the bags near the gate of the treatment plant. I used to write WATERDOG on them with a marker. That way the guys knew it was me doing it.
That shot of the riffles you took had a ton of little fish in it when I was there. Down and around to the next bluff. Not much water, but man were they in there.
Did you walk in the pool above the dam?

Hey Matt- My ex-father in law used to be principal at Mooseheart and I got married there in the great church...does that qualify me for trespassing? I got in at Randall Rd a few weeks ago and headed upstream...is that where you were? Looks like room for a fly rod...is that possible? Thanks, JT
