Don DZ came out to fish the Fox about this time of year in 2005.
You can tell that was the year of the drought, you'll won't see some of these areas like that any time soon.
This was at Glenwood Forest Preserve before they took out the dam and rebuilt that area.
I have a tape of this, but who has a VCR anymore. So I've never seen this before. Did learn not to keep a cigar in my mouth since then.

Good show Ken.
FWIW- I still have a VCR, and many VHS tapes in my collection.

I have an uncle that thought they were going to go with Beta rather than VHS.Lip_Yanker wrote:FWIW- I still have a VCR, and many VHS tapes in my collection.
He still has the whole set up and some movies. He still thinks it's better than VHS.
Going to put it all up on ebay someday just to see what he can get.
Maybe a movie museum will buy it.

I remember talking about this at the MONSTER "dink" Quest! Nice vid!

Maybe a movie "mausoleum". VHS and 8 tracks are two things that will NEVER come back.
Cool segment. I remember watching that guy a couple times.

Re: Fox River Smallies
I fished the Fox south of the Geneva train tracks on Saturday, October 3, 2009 after the rain stopped. I caught one small mouth, about 14 inches, after the rain and notices several carp feeding in the spot where I caught the bass. I then moved further south and caught 6 yellow bass in about 15 minutes, each between 12 and 14 inches. The yellow bass fought hard. The small mouth was caught on a white streamer, and the yellow bass were all caught on a specially made nymph that I have used successfully on the river for years. I'll be going again on Saturday, Oct. 10th in various locations. Thanks for all of the tips this summer. The biggest bass that I caught was a 3 pounder in Big Rock Creek just south of route 34.

When I looked for it, I couldn't find it. Found it while looking for something else. I would have never thought of looking for it if it didn't come up that day.Dan wrote:I remember talking about this at the MONSTER "dink" Quest! Nice vid!

Re: Fox River Smallies
Amazing how much I forgot about that day.
Some key things I brought up that I try to impart to this day.
End of October, bright sunny semi-warm day, don't bother being out there at sunrise. Give the water a chance to warm up and all the critters start to move around.
You may have heard me say in the video that I chased a school of bait fish into the deeper hole and that's when I started catching fish. I still look for that opportunity to this day.
You may have noticed Don DZ is getting skunked on lures while all the fish are being caught with large fatheads.
I keep telling people it's minnow time. Now.
Don't make me go out and buy a bucket. Brandyn borrowed the bucket used in the video. Never returned it. We don't speak any more. They don't make those anymore. Similar, but not the same.
