Dear WD Journal...

Post by Darth »

It's been a good couple of months..=)

I figure since I've got to go through the whole PITA process of downsizing my pics (sorry in advance if you have to squint to enjoy them=) for Ken's place...I might as well just write another post.

That whole copy and paste from site to site thing has become largely frowned upon anyway. :P

So...I made it out....

...even caught a few fish.=)

Spooks will always make paying for those more expensive less versatile plugs not only unecessary...but somewhat ridiculous...at least in my mind.

I've modded my most used inventory with VMC SureSets on the belly treble...

...really seems to help with hooking up more fish without hindering action.

FishWhistle in on the action...

The Fall window of Topwater opportunity has provided some incredibly good days of fishing.

Of course any angler worth his salt knows that there comes a time to put the bigger lures away and opt for more finesse presentations...

Con hooked me up with this nice Matzuo emulation of a Pin's.
So far...so good=)

Get out there while you still can!

Most EXCELLENT!

Some absolute HAWGS! If you are planning a trip next week during the week in the afternoon, let me know. I'll take you up on that offer to fish the waters north of me.

I have a few of those Matzuos, mostly the smallest size. They killed the perch in L.M. this Spring. ;) If you are looking for more, I know where they are on clearance, and will be there Saturday at 7am.

I don't care about that. Whatever makes life easier works for me.

You see, this way I don't have to scroll from side to side to read what you write. The pictures just fit. ;)

Been meaning to do a real write up on picture size. I have a lot of experience at it. Not only on the web, but for a living. Over my years in the graphics biz, I've cropped and sized many thousands of images of all kinds.

Pretty simple. From your camera you can easily scale down to 6x8 inches at 72 dpi. That's all you need. Also in photoshop you can automatically set the cropping tool for 6x8 and 72. Select the area, hit return and you're done.

The smaller tighter images look better too.

Now if we can get you to wipe the vaseline off your lens . . .

Since your computer has been down, you may have missed this.

I burned out a pair of Cabela's Ultimate Hunting Waders a few years ago. Never replaced them. 5mm neoprene. Used to wade the river year round and in those I could stay in the water for hours and never feel it. Now I like hanging around the fire place more in the winter. I think I proved everything I wanted to prove to myself about winter fishing. I caught smallies every month for just over 4 years straight out of the Fox. Now I just tell others where to go and they can get back to me. :)

Even though the waterfowl hunting near me is looking interesting. Haven't done that in a few years and never got anything on the Fox. I can wade to a few spots.

I need a clone to go work for me while I go do what I like to do.

Thanks guys!=) Ed I'm looking to hopefully get out Monday...I'll keep you posted.

Ken I'm just bustin your nads on the picture size thing :P I've got a pretty big monitor and like the way the larger size looks on it...but using my girlfriends laptop with an average sized screen last week I realized it kinda sucks only seeing half the pic and having to scroll around to see the whole thing.

And yes I did miss that post....hilarious! When can I get my helmet back? lol

GreatfulDad...I've only dabbled in fly fishing the river a couple times...the flies I was using were REALLY small and the only thing I caught was my hat :P

Told you so. Just use the sizes mentioned above. Really is big enough. And don't worry about cross posting. Don't care. Life is hectic enough to have to do everything twice. Besides, you get much different responses here. :D :D

The helmet stays in my collection of weird crap found in the river. Unless the price is right. Besides, halloween is right around the corner and I have a couple of neighborhood kids I want to scare the crap out of. I figure that and an ax in each hand ought to do it.

Yeah that ought to do it!=)

Couple years ago in St. Charles a guy cut up one of those big plastic garbage cans and set it just off to the side of his front door...partially in the shadows.
After a couple of knocks the can "came alive" to give the kids that still had dry pants and weren't running across the yard screaming in shock candy.

Ok I admit...scared the crap outta me too

But it was awesome!=)
