I'll try to get some pictures in here the next couple of days and finish this off.

Found something while fishing Mill Creek that I still don't know what to do with. The building and the property along the creek has been having work done to it. I came across a spot where the steep bluff was filled to create a ramp. It was made with construction debris from the work being done. Concrete chunks, roofing material and just junk. It looked like the work was getting done with something the size of a bobcat. They carved a trail to the creek and it was obvious they drove it into the creek. Part of it had been scraped and pushed into a small pile. This I know is illegal. It looked like they were cutting everything down off a very small island and had wood cut and stacked on pallets.
I followed the tracks through the woods, which I always thought was part of the creek flood plain. Found things that were either being dumped or staged for taking out. I couldn't tell. The make shift road then headed back up a shallower part of the hill toward the house. At the top of the hill were stacks of wood on pallets wrapped in plastic. Just like the few I was finding in the woods.
Just above the Route 31 bridge, they had run the bobcat through the creek a few times, pushing rock to the opposite side and onto another small island. That can't be a good thing and I know that's not allowed without a permit.
I have this all documented with pictures, just don't know what I want to do with it yet. Become a pain in the ass about it or just leave it alone. My once get involved with all things river attitude seems to have waned over the last few years. They may have every right to fill the area down toward the creek and they may have every right to take out whatever they want on this small creeks floodplain. But I know they can't go around scraping the bottom of the creek just because they feel like it.
I'll have to think about what I want to do about this.

I would report them. Fuck em. They are obviously a pretty big threat to the creek with their carelessness.

Re: What to do about Mill Creek
I'm working on it. I still have contacts at the IDNR. I'll be getting it to them in the next couple of days if I can get it done. I'm trying not to come across like an asshole. That can be difficult for me.Ed79 wrote:I would report them. Fuck em. They are obviously a pretty big threat to the creek with their carelessness.

Re: What to do about Mill Creek
I sent the following description in pdf form to my contacts at the IDNR.
We'll see if they do anything. If anything can even be done.
Mill Creek Description
This is the tame version. In my head the other version starts . . . Once there was a time when I came across what I came across on Mill Creek, I would have been up these peoples asses like a hot lead enema . . .
The tame version was the correct version to send.
Maybe I'll get around to the other version.

Re: What to do about Mill Creek
That's absolutely unreal Ken. What a bunch of douche bags. Glad to see you reported them to the DNR. What they're doing to the creek-bed is highly illegal. Keep us posted on what comes of this. I'd like to see what the DNR does. Possibly setup some type of sting operation to catch them in the act? Would be fun to get some pics of that!
