Strange Rains

That's what this one is about. If you're planning on fishing and want company, put that here. If the fish talk you have to say doesn't fit anywhere else, that can go here too.

Strange Rains

Post by Ken G »

So far all these small rains have had no effect on anything around here. The creeks are a little muddy, but they haven't even blipped. Not much more called for over night, so Saturday could be a pretty good day to get out. I personally think the fishing is going to suck, just a feeling, but still a good day to get out.

The Mazon is down to 360, but not sure I want to waste gas to go fishing.

Di is heading off to work at sunrise, I'm going somewhere. Maybe to the first spot I ever fished the Fox. Haven't been there in a couple of years I think. Unless I don't feel like driving the whole 15 miles. I mean, the river is a two minute walk from my front door and I haven't even fished that stretch yet this year.

I'll decide when I walk out the door I guess.

You kill me Ken. I mean how many times have I read this from you since I joined here?

You never fish that stretch! Why the heck did you buy a house so close to the river you love to fish, yet you never fish that part of the river?!

Go fish.

The drama saga continues for me. You have no idea how unnerving this is for me. The Marine in me says march over there and figure it out with a few gut-shots and a six pack. The internet doofus in me says don't get banned, there are some cool folks that hang there.

Tomorrow morning I am going fishing. I have started to enjoy video-taping my excursions. Maybe I can lose myself in something fun for a couple hours.....

I rent a house, big difference. My ex owns a house that I paid for.

Funny how I used to drive from Elmhurst to fish this stretch, would take a good hour to get here. I don't know why I don't fish it much. Don't make me think about that.

I only read the Fox forum on Chitown, so I wouldn't even know where to look for the drama your getting yourself into. I'm just glad I'm not getting anymore email.

I'm no marine, but 6 years in the Boy Scouts I had nothing but leaders that were from 4 branches of the armed forces. It was like being in boot camp on every camping trip and we camped 12 months out of the year. But they did pass on that same attitude about getting things resolved quickly and then move on.

I think you need to read those last 4 words of that last paragraph again.

AND, you're giving me a hard time for not fishing a stretch 2 minutes from my house while you keep going back to kick the wasp nest.

Now who's crazier. :P :P

All I know is that I'm not going fishing south of me. Looks like all hell is breaking loose down there and the Fox Valley Effect is doing it's job up here.

Hop, skip, jump. Indian Trail, downtown Aurora, North Ave. on the south end of Aurora and wherever I can think of as I drive south homeward. Haven't done a trip like that in years.

Looks like I'm done on Chitown. Went to login and can't. Been using the same password forever. Keeps telling me wrong password. Don't feel like taking the effort to find out what's up.

I can still read everything, just can't log in to post anything.

Oh well, no great loss.

No great loss is right.

Anything of interest was deleted. Anything I posted that was considered a "problem" was deleted. The posts in which anything was discussed were completely deleted as well.

I can still log on there. I will use the Salmon Unlimited Forum (member) and pm system to stay in touch with some of my friends.

When all is said and done, walking away from it and moving on is the only way to fix this problem. Thanks for the insight and ear to bend Ken.

Did you get out this morning? I watched some storms blow up southwest of where I was fishing this morning and thought, "I sure am glad we picked Batavia and not Yorkville!"

I look forward to your pictures, so much so that I will leave you with a couple of mine!

Sunrise over Batavia on the way to my fishing grounds.

Been there done that regarding fishing sites. ISA, CLF and these guys were friends. The one that bothered me was the ISA. I did a lot of good work with them and they let the shitheads rule when it came to me. That's because the shitheads were in charge. Oh well, they're loss.

CLF I walked away from. Got fed up with the nonsense. You miss the good people you meet, but the assholes make it not worth the effort.

The rain was over by the time I left. It was brief. Started up at Indian Trail, then North Ave and Montgomery as I headed back south. I should have concentrated harder at Indian Trail. 5 smallies and a descent cat for the little time I was there.

Odd, I got bored even while catching the fish. That doesn't happen on the creeks. I was enjoying pushing the limits on what kind of water I could walk through and not get knocked over more than the fishing. I knew the water at normal levels, wanted to know what it was like at 1290 cfs. Not so bad really.

Didn't realize I had no camera with me till I was at the fishing spot. But, some guy across the river set up a tripod and yells to ask if its okay to take a pictures. Fine by me. So I'm making sure I'm giving him some decent angles to shoot and a smallie actually cooperated during this impromptu photo shoot. I could see him smiling all the way across the river.

Ed, you live and learn. I could have told you right off the bat it was going to be a no win situation with Marc. Nice guy, stubborn as a mule once his minds set.

I keep meaning to send a note off to kid Andrew and tell him to shut down his site if he wants to be taken seriously. That thing is going to be his undoing. Keep the blogs and let people respond to those. Interaction among members is totally unnecessary if you're trying to make a go of it in the fishing industry. How many others in the fishing industry do you see running fishing forums.

That's right, none of them. They know better. Did you read that Andrew?

That is the eye ball of a guys that only got 3 hours of sleep.

Though no one seems to care, I care, it sucks that it came to that. But it is my fight, i'll listen and say "Do you what you feel like you need to do."

Ken your FHQ post was something I told Ed at a birthday party today, you almost quoted me...

I've been around this stuff long enough that normally I wouldn't care what Andrew does to himself. It's when I have people I no longer talk to contacting me out of the blue and telling me that I've somehow lowered my standards because of who I associate with that irks me.

If I've walked away from something, and I've walked away from pretty much all the local fishing sites, there's usually a pretty damn good reason for it. Since I was wired by my dad with this inability to lie, I tell people what the reasons are and they either ignore them or get all pissed off.

No longer my problem.

When I got this place up and running a couple of years ago I had a review up of all the local fishing sites and what a waste they are. The only one I couldn't criticize was WCF, Jason stays out of everything. The others deserve the criticism. Caught absolute hell for it. I deleted it from here before I realized I didn't have a copy on my computer.

I wish I still had it. I'd put it back up. Now I don't have the mental energy to do it again from scratch.

Uhhh, where were we.

The rains did virtually nothing to the Fox. It went up to 1500 before I shut the computer off last night and it's already down to 1390 this morning.

The creeks are a little muddy though.

The Apple is in perfect condition, but too far.

Mazon got blown out over night.

Kank too high.

I think that makes where to fish pretty self evident.

I no problem with no one. None of these places are "my site" they can do with it as they wish.

I just remember saying that the blogs on Andrews site are his strong point and he can survive on that if he wants.

With the all the other stuff, it is not my fight. I have friends on both sides. I wish to stay out of it. It is not a cop out. My friends, people like Ed, understand my point and I don't want to get involved.

I have no beef with no one...

I just thought it was interesting that you probably wrote that at the same time I was saying it.
