I checked all the river gauges from the Mississippi to the lakefront and from Kankakee to the Wisconsin border and the Fox River is the only one that is wadeable right now. It's coming almost straight down and was reading 1700 cfs at 7 AM this morning.
The creeks are pretty much blown out though.
I'll have to take the time at some point to do some hands on research.

1600 cfs at 9:36 AM.
Creeks look like they'll be blown out for awhile.

Won't get a chance to don the new waders till Tuesday. Lots of storms in the forecast between now and then. Let's hope they are the type with a bigger bark than bite.

1540 cfs at 12:09 PM. Dropping like a rock. Kind of interesting to watch considering the shape all the other rivers are in.
Time to go cut the grass. I think later today may be the only time I can get out for a week.

DesPlaines river is wadable also dropped from 1200 to 800cfps. Never got a chance to make it out yesterday but will get out today. Too bad I only have enough time to fish the DPR. Probably pull out the Bamboo and try for some gills and crappie.
You can never fish the same river twice, by the time you get back it's not the same river.

Forgot to check that one. Probably because of my history with it and still thinking it's a flowing sewer and why would anyone want to go in it. I'll have to learn to break that mindset.
Off and on rains for the next 4 or 5 days. Today's as good as any.

Its still a flowing sewer, fished it today for an hour with the fly rod.....wow I suck at casting. Nothing but garbage floating everywhere and a dead turtle on shore with a million flies on it. I almost puked when i walked past it.Ken G wrote:Forgot to check that one. Probably because of my history with it and still thinking it's a flowing sewer and why would anyone want to go in it. I can give you a few quick lessons. I learned from some of the best. Still screw it up at times, but I'm a slow learner.MattC wrote:.....wow I suck at casting.
