Finally made out to the Mazon River this morning. Thanks to Pezdek1 & Ken G. i know i was on the exact same water you guys have been on based on your photos. Caught about 8 smallies in the dink range(12" and under) on tubes(black with blue flake), white double willow blade spinner bait, and craw colored rattle trap. Color on all of these fish was really good. Storms chased me off before i wanted, but not too bad for a first time excursion.
Really a pretty neat stream. Has anyone out their canoed or kayaked this little gem? If so, where are some good take out points?
Sorry no photos, i'm challenged both in photography and getting them on here. Hoping my wife will make a trip there with me in the future so those problems can be rectified.

Re: 5 / 31 Mazon River
I forgot about a canoe/kayak place across the Illinois River from the mouth of the Mazon.
Here's the link.

I know you can go across the Illinois and paddle around up into the Mazon. You may want to call them and see what else they'll do.
