Yorkville.

Post by John S Montgomery »

Hey guys. I have passed by the Yorkville dam a couple of times in the last week and saw some guys wading. I'm just curious how it's shaping up with the changes. I would think there are more current breaks where the fish can hang. Ken I know thats probably to close to home for you, but anyways it would be great to hear some feedback.

Overall nothing has changed much. The one thing you can't do is fish anywhere along the new kayak chute. I never fish at the dam itself. Since I live a few blocks further down, I always start there. My goal this year, forced on me by gas prices, is to fish from the boat launch just west of 47 all the way down to the Hoover Forest Preserve. Hopefully I can talk my wife into coming to get me so I don't have a long hike home. :D

I'll be kayaking down that stretch on Tuesday with the owner of the new Geneva Kayak Center. He wants to set up some kayak fishing programs. I think afterward I may go hit Orchard Road area. Water is down just enough to comb the shore line.

The kayak fishing sounds intriguing. He wants to know if I'm willing to get people out on Lake Michigan. I can do that.

Summer king fishing out of Milwaukee harbor on a kayak would be a sweet deal. Get some fly-rodders into it and you have yourself a golden opportunity.
