Re: Dropping like a rock
WOW, yesterday I thought for sure it was going to do that long slow slide down.
So much for that.
1880 to 1390 in 24 hours. Two more days of that and it should stop flowing altogether.
That would be funny.

Re: Dropping like a rock
Normally I would be down for this on a Wednesday, but of course I'll be working late tomorrow. If weather is looking good for Sunday and the misses isn't suffering too bad of a hangover from a Saturday night wedding, then I'll be heading out to the Fox somewhere.

Dinner with my daughter tomorrow night. Haven't seen her in months.Special Ed wrote:I just got clearance for an afterwork session tomorrow. 4:15pm to dark, where we meeting?
With one car still out, the wife just took off in mine. She actually has days off, how weird. Trying to spend dinners with her, an odd treat.
Thinking of doing the unthinkable. May walk down to the river in a little while and wade the stretch below my house. In 6 years, I've done that maybe 4 times. I'd much rather get in my car and drive somewhere else.

I like solo trips anyway.
After fishing the wrong side of that Oswego stretch I have been thinking non-stop about the other side. I guess my mind is made up as to where for Wednesday...
If your car ever gets fixed Ken you should be clear to get your rod-crafting 101 class. The house is free from sickness finally. It should be a great class, I have 10 rods waiting to be built, you can take your pick!

Re: Dropping like a rock
River came back up to 1450. Must have been going up a bit while I was out there. Water was fricking cold.
I believe I put up a few other details on that area. I'd give it a quick cast and blast. With the water down, they'll just be a little further out.
I think I'll do fine on the rods. Seems easy enough as long as you're doing all the fancy wrapping. I've always wondered about the guide placement and how to get them on the rod initially. Once I know that, piece of cake. Wife's car supposedly getting fixed tomorrow. We'll take it from there.

Ed, Where in Oswego were you going to fish? When I have the urge to get around I will head down by the canoe launch down from Saw wee kee And fish that stretch. I believe the first time I fished that many moons ago was with Ken G, Bob Long, Mark from Chi-town and a couple others. I didn't do too well as far as fishing gos but it was a very interesting water to roam. When I get there, I like shore line on the west side before the the first Island all the way past the orchard street bridge to the next island east. When I recover from my surgery if you like to get out just let me know. If the moon and stars align maybe we can get Ken to stroll the the river with us. Kevin

Re: Dropping like a rock
I remember that day Kev.
I can walk that area with my eyes closed now.
August/September of last year was unreal at the amount of fish. Because of the kayak chute in Yorkville now, actually tied into a couple of schools of white bass. Unheard of before.
We'll get out. Heal quickly and let's go.

Re: Dropping like a rock
I like the SWK area, but Ken regularly beats the hell out of that stretch. He has all the fish there trained like Pavlov's dogs. They can tell when his dilapidated wading boots are heading down stream.
Kev, I'd like to do more exploring in the Oswego stretches and some Yorkville areas. It's all too close to my house for me to not have fished it before.
Heal up and maybe Ken will organize another Death March...
