Ken You Suck

That's what this one is about. If you're planning on fishing and want company, put that here. If the fish talk you have to say doesn't fit anywhere else, that can go here too.

Ken You Suck

Post by Special Ed »

I had an hour today on lunch to wet a line at a pond by the lab. Stayed inside instead... Do you know why?

It wasn't wading...

You ruined me.

Looking forward to a water walk this weekend, and hopefully again during the week next week since the next weekend is trashed with Mother's Day and all.

I know my day to fish this weekend will be Sunday again after the sweet day of hops.
Not sure where I'll fish yet.

John, depending on what is better weather-wise I will either be walking a stretch of the Fox sun-up to 10ish or watching the sun set on the Fox, 5:30ish to 8 or so...

John, you're welcome to join. In fact I bet we can tap a spot on a stretch near me that has fish willing to take a fly just as eagerly as they would my jig.

If we do the afternoon old man Pee-body may even join...

Stopped by Big Rock Creek on a WalMart run around noon.

Last week, saw one sucker, caught some smallies.

Today, because of the warm weather and rain we had, hundreds, I'm talking hundreds of carp heading upstream.

Fished upstream of Orchard Road, 2 smallies none landed, carp everywhere.

Thought I would fish the mud line at Waubonsie, forgot that creek turns to mud if you spit in it. Was as muddy as the river. Carp everywhere, at the mouth, in the current break, heading up the creek.

Great opportunity if you want to fish for carp. Experience tells me if it's smallies your after, go find something else to do. Might find them along the rocks in St. Charles or the usual higher water smallie spots, but the carp run tends to kill of catching anything else.

Wading is the coolest way on earth to fish. Ruins you for life. Standing on the shore of a pond seems silly at best. That's why I can't do it around here. Now, from a canoe, no problem.

Working Saturday, might hit a spot on the way home.

Sunday, clueless. Not sure I want to fish for carp. Even though Ed, that spot we hit the other day might be okay.

I was thinking either there or the stretch down from the Rt. 30 bridge. West shore, easy in, easy out.

I'll keep an eye on the gauge, we can make the call last minute.

If all the carp are up the creeks who's hanging in the crap plant outflow?

That might be worth it.

The carp are everywhere, you can just see them in the creeks. Porpoising all over the river. Where do these damn things hang out the rest of the year?

The crap plant flow is a creek, to them. They'll be all over that too. Might be worth fishing the flats for them with a fly rod.

The outing doesn't have to target carp. I can throw flies all day and not catch anything. Trust me, I am used to it. :P

CARP>>> The Fresh Water Bonefish of the FOX RIVER!!! Got to start marketing that idea, there is Gold in dem Hills!! On a more serious note I was up a creek, literally during a Quillback spawn and was amazed at how thick they were running. Its crazy to see fish on top of fish going up the riffles to holes and calm water. That being said I never Ever catch Smallies when the carp and quill are on the run.

I won't say never, but they sure do make it damn hard to do. Couple of hits here and there the last couple of days. Took video of carp busting through a stand of lily pads. If I had a clue how to process video, I'd put it up.
