Gauge in Montgomery is reading 130 cfs.
I think I piss faster than that. Pray for rain this week, the fishes need it.
I'm on my way out the door to hit the cool clean waters of Lake Michigan near Milwaukee. Surface temps near 65, should make for an excellent cool breeze in this crippling heat.

Re: Low & Slow
I thought 175 in 2005 was the lowest I'd ever see it go. Broke that record.
There's actually quite a bit of water out there yet. Waist high and deeper for long stretches. Long shallower faster moving water. Now's the time to go exploring. I've done it all in the past.
Though, I really should start heading down from Yorkville. Have done some, but lots of uncharted water. We'll see how the river goes, summer is still young.

I was in Yorkville yesterday afternoon attending a little music fest right by the kayak chute....the water is still moving there but me and the kids figured we'd be able to walk across the river below the dam pretty easily. We need rain!!

USGS for South Elgin isn't reporting CFS for the last few days. Says "Data Unavailable."
The fish I caught with CB on Saturday were warm to the touch. Lots of my spots are dry ground. Hard to figure where to go. Yesterday I drove down but it was crowded. Grabbed a cheap sixer instead. That whole St. Charles stretch looks ridiculous there's so many dudes in the water. From the dam to Indiana - forget about it on the weekend. I took CB further afield and we still ran into folks. The one place I can usually be alone is a 3/4 mile hike. Not doable for me many days.
I'm coming down by you pretty soon, Ken. If you're still interested let's get a date pulled together. Need to get out of the rat race. I'd like to see some of your turf in lower water. That'll give me some clues if I ever make it back down.

Re: Low & Slow
I'm heading out in the morning. Won't decide where till I get in my car. Probably somewhere between Batavia and Sheridan or one of the five creeks down stream of me.
That pin points things for ya.
Few go below Oswego, just start walking down stream. Stay on river right.

Re: Low & Slow
Great to finally meet you Ken, glad you happened to pick the same spot we did yesterday. It's incredibly useful to a newbie like me to see the river this low- not only does it help me understand what's underneath the water in certain sections, it helps me understand what's under the water in any river! I really had no idea what a riverbed looked like until I saw it in the air. Really instructive; can't wait to apply that knowledge. Rivers are awesome.
Sam- we found some fish, it's not super far from you, I'll send you a map. It was on fire! At least in numbers, not size.
