A monster white sturgeon weighing an estimated 1,100 pounds and measuring 12 feet, 4 inches was caught and released on the Fraser River, a British Columbia waterway famous for its big sturgeon...just not this big.

Re: 1,110# Sturgeon
read this today.
cool that they are still around.
Have you guys read "History of Chicago area"?
Sturgeon were caught at the lakefront & river mouth for years.
It was reported they were up to 10-footers in the mid 1850's.
Of course the population was decimated by over harvesting.
Imagine the whoppers caught in the mid 1800's off the chicago lakefront (as the city was growing),
they were actually alive before the revolutionary war.

Re: 1,110# Sturgeon
Many years ago they pulled one out of Lake Michigan. I thought it was off Illinois or Wisconsin somewhere. Over 8 feet long if I remember correctly.
Haven't gone swimming in the lake since then. I don't care what they eat, it's bigger than me.
Won't swim in the ocean either. Don't care to be a menu item.
