I lurk now and then and happened to see this. Obviously, I won't reply there.

There is a lot of info out there on the Fox, hard to find at times. You wouldn't believe how much I threw away about 6 years ago. An excerpt from a book I tossed too, which I shouldn't have. It's a one of a kind book owned by Ralph Frese of Chicagoland Canoe base. Lot's of history in it.

About a year ago I started to get involved with a group to develop a use plan for the Lower Fox. It was through The Conservation Foundation. My interest in all things getting involved has waned and I quit going after a few meetings. I hear the plan is pretty much done.

Friends of the Fox would be able to help with info. I knew a few people there too. You can always drop my name, but some of the newer people wouldn't know me, I think.

Keeping up a sustained interest in things like this wears on you. It can be time consuming. I should know. Worth getting to know some of these groups and the people involved. A number of them will probably be at Hunting and Fishing Days. It's like a reunion for some of us, get to catch up and touch base.

Heh, well, I'm not out to Save the Fox or anything like that. I think she's doing pretty well on her own. I'd like to have something tangible, some knowledge for myself, that I'm right.

And I just enjoy history and old pictures.

I'm down to liking the history and old pictures. I used to try to Save the Fox, but nobody seems to care much outside of the conservation industry. Fishermen were a waste of my time. If you want others to help, approach any one but fishermen.

As for Ed, remind me to give him a crack in the back of the head next time I see him. Like my dad used to do to me...
