Both you and that smallie have the tough guy pose down pat.
I love it when those smallies tense up and flare like that.
Great wade Sunday, hope I get a chance to do it again before next Spring.

Also, for anyone willing to try the WWD at the Montgomery treatment facility:
Park at one of the two buildings off Rt. 31, in the parking spaces provided for either of the offices. Gear up and walk between the two buildings, next to the dumpsters, down the embankment onto the gravel road. Keep heading in the direction of the river, when you get to the fence line follow it on the right hand side. The whole way to the outflow is dry except for a single 3.5 foot stretch that is essentially a whole section of bank missing. I was able to jump the gap, but Nick found it easy to jump in, wade the gap, and climb back up.

Re: Nick and Ed hit the Fox
Will be interesting to see if they say anything to us. Never have. They don't seem to care.
I missed that gap once when trying to jump it. Took forever to get the mud off the front of the waders practically up to my neck.
I know when I see that much foam that things are high and turbulent just outside it. Would be interesting to walk that shore all the way down, but you have to remember where the drop offs are. Pretty deep now.
In 2008 after the river hit the 20,000 cfs mark, I waited till it came down to around 3500 and waded from the outflow down to the flats. Had one of my few hundred fish days. That's what I'm waiting for again.
That spot behind the library would be a good spot to bring your kids. You can let them wander around in the creek further down, just watch your step.

Re: Nick and Ed hit the Fox
When, I parked down there and usually on a weekend, I would write a small note asking them to call my cell if I was pissing them off for parking in their lot and I would gladly move the car rather than get towed. Never had any problem and one rather large employee would meander out and say hello on occasion. Once had a 25 fish day catching the darkest channel cats in January... somehow it just didn't seem right catching catfish in January.I also believe this was where blind Joe a smallie used to reside, I felt rather guilty catching him every time I was there as well.
Flooded high water and they were all back in the trees on that flat. I haven't fished there in quite awhile.

Oh my god, that poor fish. We all caught it numerous times. Once out there with Jim Becker he caught it 7 times in less than a half hour. We stuffed it's mouth full of minnows and down it's gullet. Didn't catch him again that day.Fishin Musician wrote:I also believe this was where blind Joe a smallie used to reside, I felt rather guilty catching him every time I was there as well.
