I Hate Winter

Post by Ken G »

Sunday the long term weather for this coming weekend said it was going to be 50 on Saturday. Now it's saying 31. I won't go out when its 31. Sunday 39, that's borderline interesting. I'll go for a walk in weather like both these days, but fishing in that weather no longer interests me.

But, if things change, I,m thinking of hitting 3 spots, any of which could be good this time of year. But since everything is temperature driven. . . I don't know.

Location #1

North Aurora

Location #2

Montgomery

Location #3

Silver Springs State Park

The river level is dropping like a rock. Hope it gets warmer out. Number 3 is 5 minutes from my house.

We shall have to see.

Yeah, yeah, yeah I'm going to try to be a little more social this year, but no promises. :P :P

This time of year is real hit or miss. Went to Les Arends and the mouth of Mill Creek years ago about the third week of March. Fished 4 hours and caught 2 fish. But they were both 18 inches. So in a way I guess it was worth it.

You can acutally park on the south side of the river. It's by the State Parks airfield. That will make sense when you see it. Then a short walk to the river. You wind up on the opposite side from the mouth of Big Rock.

You can walk that shore, I used to catch quite a few walleye in that pool. Especially right before it goes down the fast riffles. Walleye like to sit at the edge of a pool in front of riffles. You just have to figure out how to hang it in front of them.

It really will make sense when you see it.

Don't try to walk out there now though. You'll probably die.
